A Form-Function English Grammar: Level 8 is the eighth workbook in the elementary series that builds up to A Form-Function Description of the Grammar of the Modern English Language, a textbook and workbook that provides a descriptive grammar that strives to provide an objective description of English as used without value judgements.

The goal of Level 8 is to reinforce the word classes (parts of speech, grammatical forms) of English taught in Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, and Level 7. Level 8 includes nouns, determiners, pronouns, verbs, phrasal verbs, modal verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, postpositions, coordinating conjunctions, correlative conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, and interjections. Level 8 also reinforces phrases (noun phrases, determiner phrases, adjective phrases, adverb phrases, verb phrases, prepositional phrases, postpositional phrases), clauses (adverb clauses, adjective clauses, noun clauses), grammatical functions (subject, predicate, direct object, indirect object, object complement, appositive, noun phrase modifier, determinative, verb phrase complement, adjective phrase complement, prepositional complement, adverbial), functional versus lexical verbs, sentence structure (compound and complex subjects, predicates, and sentences), internal structures and grammatical functions of subordinate clauses, and extraposition. Level 8 also expands on the tree diagrams in Level 7 and includes punctuation lessons.

Level 8 is recommended for ages 12 to 14 in seventh grade through eighth grade.

The answers to all the activities are located at the end of the workbook.

The 408-page workbook is currently available for purchase on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.
